It's only because it's the latest version. I decided to take a gamble on it by purchasing a barely used one for $30 and it has really payed off. Before I ordered this model I had used the 2100 and the 2150. Both of these models are ok if you want a dictionary that is good enough, but that is not a well made product that is user friendly. With the 2170 it seems that Franklin has finally decided to catch up with the times and make something that works more intuitively and does what an electronic device like this should do (make the act of using a dictionary easy and quick). The way that the keyboard is set up makes more sense than the previous versions and just pushing down on the keys is easier than the previous two versions. The backlight works well, but for me it isn't really an issue. I don't usually need a backlight. The 2170 seems durable, but only time will tell. The instructions seem to... Slightly larger than the 2100 but still shirt pocket size. The pronounce voice is a real person (seems to be) instead of the machine voice of the 2100. Product is like the condition stated as used but "like new", of course it has an easy so visible scratch but it's ok shiny and not worn out of shape, and I know what I want. I am glad I saved money by my gamble buying this one instead of buying a new one BES 2100 which is about $ 15 more. This Spanish English dictionary works, sometimes speaking Spanish with man and woman voice alternately (no computer voice). It seems easy to use. After turning it on, you have a list of dictionaries, including an English, you move the cursor to choose a dictionary and enter (type) the word and press enter. It displays the meaning of the word quickly. If you want a voice then press the speaker button. I have not test others but another family member tested it and saying other ... worked. I don't know much to say that it is a perfect 5 stars product in comparison with others but it is 5 for me. Thanks. |
