My last good one was a LaCie that looked like a Mac Mini. When it died, on recommendation of folks at the Apple Store, I bought this one to replace it, as I needed FireWire 400. The Quadra D2 lasted for JUST ONE MONTH before it started clicking and stopped mounting. Over that month it was used for a total of 3 weekly Time Machine backups, with the backup occupying less than a quarter of the drive. Hardly any work at all. This is not a cheap drive, either. LaCie's customer service adds insult to injury. They spent literally three days reconfirming the drive's serial number, my shipping address, and other info that I had input correctly in the first place. Then they insisted on sending me a new power supply. I know Lacies are infamous for their power supply problems. However I've also had enough... Read more |
